Swirrl (Semantic Wiki?): Metadata and mainstream

Wie im Richard MacManus im ReadWriteWeb heute berichtet, lässt sich seit kurzer Zeit das Swirrl Semantic Wiki nutzen.

Swirrl is a wiki-like application that was built using Semantic Web technologies and launched as a beta last week. We heard about it in the comments to our post about the lack of commercial RDF applications on the Web.

As with most Semantic Web apps, it's a little difficult to describe what Swirrl is.

Die zentrale Funktion des Datensammelns wird – im Vergleich zu anderen Wikis – deutlich, wenn man etwas Neues anlegt:

Fazit nach einem ersten Test: M.E. ist das Swirrl Wiki für den intendierten Funktionsbereich dem Konzept nach gut geeignet. Ease of use ermöglicht es dem Endanwender, die Funktionalität des Wikis auch auszunutzen. Der Preise von 24 $ bis 198$ im Monat ist marktfähig.

Der Slogan von Swirrl mag berechtigt sein:

A web application that allows your team to store, share, edit and analyze information. It's like a wiki, but better.

Wird jedoch mehr als nur das Sammeln und analysieren von Daten gewünscht, könnte man sagen:

• A better wiki system is more likely.

BTW: Der durch Swirrl ermöglichte Funktionsumfang lässt sich bei Atlassians Confluence Wiki auch realisieren (durch metadata plugin / Scaffolding).
