Masked gunman storms school, then kills himself
A masked man stormed a secondary school in Emsdetten, near the Dutch border, yesterday wearing explosives and wielding rifles. He injured at least 11 people before killing himself. Police said the man was an 18-year-old former pupil of the school. "He was a loner who was severely unhappy with his life," state prosecutor Wolfgang Schweer said. German television quoted from a suicide note, reportedly published on one of the attacker's two websites, in which he said: "This revenge will be carried out so brutally and ruthlessly that it will chill you to the bone."

Web-search giant Google is in talks to acquire YouTube for roughly $1.6bn (€1.2bn), a person familiar with the matter says.financialnews-us.com
The discussions between Google and YouTube are still at a sensitive stage and could break off, says the person familiar with the matter. Other technology, media and entertainment companies have expressed interest in taking stakes in YouTube this year, according to people familiar with the matter.
Google rival Yahoo earlier this week expressed interest in holding acquisition talks with the video start-up, these people say. YouTube also turned down a lower proposed value from Google earlier this week, before commencing discussions about the possible $1.6bn deal.

Lonely swan finds a love boat (Muenster, Ger)
Today in the METRO:
I'll see it.
Any photoes?
A lonely swan has fallen in love with a swan-shaped plastic paddle boat on a lake in Germany. The rare Black Australian bird is showing all the typical signs of swan love / circling the boat, staring endlessly at it and cooning - on the Aasee lake in Muenster, north-western Germany. Biologists hope the swan won't be pining when the boat is locked away for the winter.
I'll see it.
Any photoes?
